I have always been a passionate admirer of creative writing!
A Brief Personal Reflection on the Joy and Inspiration Derived from Reading: The Power of Storytelling.
When I was young, I never then realized or understood the reason behind it when I loved those moments when I saw myself in the world of books. In a world that was created with boundless imagination and with exceptional vision. In a world where I got lost on purpose time and time again. In a world where I could sense the magic spell cast and in that world was where I always wanted to be.
It takes me back in time to when my father used to tell stories every night and how I loved those stories and I remember how I used to wait for those moments and how my father's imaginative stories would transport me to a whole new world of adventure and wonder. How I was fond of those made up stories. It was a time when my young mind was filled with curiosity and excitement, and my father's stories only added to my sense of amazement and joy.
There were his imaginary characters, there were his imaginary circumstances, there were mythical moments, that seemed so real and so engaging. I could escape into his imaginary world so easily, where every story was like a gateway to a world of endless possibilities. A world full of imagination and marvel. Even today, whenever I think back to those precious moments, I can't help but feel a sense of nostalgia and warmth.
As I reflect on my past, it was during those moments that I truly understood the power of storytelling and how it could transport me to a different time and place. When I look back in time now, I love those well-crafted thrilling mysteries, those thought-provoking stories, and the intensity of certain moments they kept me on the edge of my seat while I kept listening, eagerly anticipating what would happen next.
Looking back at my life, I can't help but notice how much storytelling has influenced me. It's crazy how much of an impact it has had on me. They kindled my passion for reading books. As I grew older, my love for reading only intensified. But it wasn't just the escapism that drew me to reading. It was the way in which stories had the power to evoke emotions within me. I could empathize with characters from different walks of life, understanding their struggles and triumphs as if they were my own. My love for reading continued to grow as I discovered new authors and genres.
And then there was the power of words. I was captivated by the way words could paint vivid pictures in my mind, allowing me to explore new worlds and meet fascinating characters. The way a writer could craft a sentence or a paragraph to evoke a certain emotion or paint a vivid picture in the reader's mind. The ability to convey complex ideas and emotions through simple words was something that fascinated me. I started appreciating it.
The sheer power of words left me spellbound!
So yes, one of the primary motivations that drew me to read was my deep passion for creative writing. I found great joy and inspiration in immersing myself in the works of talented writers, and it filled me with a sense of wonder and excitement to see how they crafted their stories and brought their characters to life. Whether I was reading a novel, a short story, or a poem, I was constantly amazed by the power of language that conveyed complex emotions and ideas, and I was always eager to learn more about the art and craft of writing.
I was reading not only for the stories they told but also for the way that these stories were being told. The way that authors used words to create a rhythmic flow, to build suspense, or to transport readers to different worlds was a mesmerizing experience for me. I would often find myself re-reading sentences just to appreciate the beauty of the language and the way it resonated with my own emotions.
Books have played a significant role in shaping my personality and have contributed immensely to the person I am today. I'm grateful for all those authors, writers, poets for they have made a huge impact on my life. Reading has served as a source of inspiration for my own creative endeavours. As I delve into the works of talented writers, I am constantly amazed by their ability to capture the perspectives, and ideas that in a way sparked my own imagination and motivated me to explore my own creativity.
So, why do I read? I read because reading allows me to experience the extraordinary, to discover the limitless power of the human imagination. I read because reading brings me joy. It allows me to escape, to dream, to learn, and express myself eloquently and effectively, yes, thanks to those countless authors who have paved my way with their masterful use of language.
Every book I read is a journey, an adventure, and a constant reminder of the power of words.
"I was born in a time when the majority of people had lost their faith in God, for the same reason their elders had had it, without knowing why."
I couldn't help it what an opening to a "novel" and now your piece has sent me places as well.
Love this! ❤️
