I, too, found it a rewarding challenge to tackle Demons in a month. I’m not sure it was my favorite of his, though. I kept feeling like the narrator was in my way. Like, I wanted to really immerse in the other characters but I was being held at a distance. I’ve been pondering why he might have written it this way, perhaps just a quirk of the times. There was still plenty to love. Just in comparison to C&P and Brothers K, I prefer the other two so much more.

I totally agree with you. Crime and Punishment is my favourite too. I like the way Dostoevsky portrays human emotions and human psychology, the gloomy manifestation and predictions are unique for their time and are quite dark yet real.
